lyrics
Can you feel the streets grow colder?
Drifting frightened souls surround
At home but always
Looking over shoulder
At the encroaching sound
Can you feel the weight of what’s to come?
The signs are lit up all around
The wheels keep grinding
But we’ve grown older
Gathered at the burial mound
But do we have another round?
Do we have, our spirit's getting thinner
Do we have, this fading town
Do we have, a place among the sinners
Do we have, these silent vows
Do we have, this light getting dimmer
Do we have, when dark surrounds
Do we have another battle left?
Sharpen implements of stone
Locked up doors keep out the strays
Stacked up instruments of bone
And we all know the tune they’ll play
The gates fall and clang shut from west to east
Bring down the walls of now and then
A ghost is watching us at the feast
What came before is all happening again
But do we have another round?
Do we have, our spirits getting thinner
Do we have, this fading town
Do we have, a place among the sinners
Do we have, these silent vows
Do we have, this light getting dimmer
Do we have, when dark surrounds
Do we have another battle left in us?
The thunder rolls and cracks the sky
The winds are charged and crystallized
A flash of fire snuffs the light
The clouds are black no more respite
The storm has come it is the time
That we’ve felt rumbling all our lives
See them run, see them hide
See their mouths slack in amazed surprise
What’s to come?
When the plates are full and cold
And the table’s empty
We search for light to fill our souls
In this land of plenty
When there’s nothing left unsaid
No shimmer of mystery
When the living ape the dead
The dead are forced to speak:
"Soon the tattered flags will fly
Lined up in killing splendor
See the fervor in their eyes
For glory no surrender
Willing sons of the great lie
We looked into the chasm
Screamed into the pitch black sky,
We’re more than marching phantoms!"
Someone here knows something’s wrong
Dreams of deepest fears
We’ve been at peace for far too long
“You think I won’t find you here?”
Half asleep we join the choir
With our bones humming
We smell the smoke of distant fires
We know what’s coming
Soon the battlements will rise
They won’t get in, we won’t get out
Soon the world will fall in line
But we’ve no will to march in doubt
All these walls are made of spies
So mask your hearts and plan escape
Before they cut you down to size
To sing in unison as slaves
So damn them all,
We’ll find escape
With clouds of green and walls of ice
A final place
Beyond this world
For this we’ll make
Our sacrifice

never been a big death metal fan but this is actually super accessible for the genre, has fun concepts, and personally i'm always a fan of albums with short tracklists and huge runtimes (for individual songs) Great time, good jumping on point for newbies too. alienasu

An outstanding Extreme doom death album, in the best tradition. The funerary atmosphere reminds of Evoken ('Centuries of ooze" bears striking similarities, for my delight). It is overall sharp, dark, hypnotic and unrelenting. One of those rare convincing new bands that hold proud the legacy of the biggest names. Bertrand Marchal
